~Homeless kitties in the cold~

I have neutered and brought in 3 of the strays this winter. I thought I only had one or two left. One of them comes and sleeps on my porch at night and waits for me to feed him. He has been camping out (just on the bed that I have out there). I have two feral houses on the porch but he has refused to go inside them. So, today I set up a little fort. I placed one of his beds and an insulated house (with the door taped open) in hopes that he will at least stay covered from the harsh wind. I also put another feeding station and a bed/blanket inside a cardboard box on the other side of the porch. Last night I got woken up to a cat stand-off. Another kitty. Actually one I saw a while back (another tuxedo) It was pouring freezing rain..and here they are standing in it ready to throw down. I had to put on my coat and walk toward them to get them to run off. I hated chasing them off, but I did not know what else to do. A fight was inevitable. So, make that 3 cats rescued this winter and 3 more to go!!!

  1. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.I have been adopted persay by two out door stays not so ferral they will let me pet them but I had to break them up several times-even had to remove the food. They finally decided that if they wanted out of the cold to stay under my triler then they better get along.

They will figure out quickly enough that if they want to stay warm and have dinner then they will get along with one another as best they can. Good Luck

  2. I am so glad someone takes care of all those kitties! It has been so bitterly cold in the midwest. Fortunately, I hardly ever see a feral cat where we live. There are several cats on our street but they all belong to someone. All your kitties available for adoption are so beautiful. Chloe looks so much like one my mom had when we were young.

  3. Chloe Bo is adorable. It would be great if your mom would adopt her. I would even have my husband drive her out..lol That's one full day on the road, but she is worth it.

  4. Tonya,

Are those two cats fixed? It helps when they get neutered, then they don't care about each other. They get along much better and don't feel the need to fight for territory. You can rent a trap for nearly a buck a day and possibly get a cheap neuter from your vet if he/she knows your are doing a TNR (trap neuter release) They will live happier lives once they don't have to fight or roam. If you need help...please let me know.

I don't know how you do it. I really have my hands full with this new boy. He treats Tamale like she is a bird or a chipmunk. I sure hope he settles down soon. I tell my husband he is just bored that we should get another for him to play with. Hee hee.
