Kitty Paintings by Joan Crow

My friend and neighbor, Joan, paints these wonderful cat paintings. This one is of a Farrel cat that lives under her house. Joan does commission pieces, as well, if you are interested. To view this little kitties auction, click on his image. You can also go to Joan's blog to check out her other work.

Back at it

I have taken a few weeks off and now I am getting ready to do some more capturing. Momma kitty has been coming by daily..but does not come in the morning, so I am forced to get her the night before.

I have been seeing a lot of new kitties coming to eat at night. Some even have their ears clipped (that means they have been fixed and released by someone) I cannot imagine what will happen if the lady down the street moves (she's ahd her house for sale forever) but she has been feeding and TNR/TSR for years. So, it will all be up to me, at that point...uggh.

Poor Kitty

This is little mama kitty. I have not named any of the ferel kitties. Maybe because that would make it even harder for me if something happened to them. Anyway, this little one was the reason I started going down the alley. She is back hanging out near my porch around 33opm to 5pm. She eats, then hangs out behind my bush, then eats again..before leaving for the afternoon.

She may be pregnant again. She has not been easy to capture. I am not wanting to get her at 5pm and have her sit in a cage till the next morning. So, I think I have to get up at near sunrise to start putting fresh food out...maybe she will come more often, if she is pregnant. Then I can try to cage her in the morning.

If you have any suggestions on how I could get her in the afternoon and have her relaxed for an entire evening, let me know.

Do you see her crusty eyes. She has always had that, maybe from her mom....but the poor thing looks horrible. It looks painful, she squints all the time. Maybe the vet can put something in her eyes when she is under...we'll see.

I am going to try to either capture her or one of her kitties (now he/she is about 5 months) so, I will keep you posted.

Mama Kitties

I got to see mama and her two kitties (they are bigger now and not hanging with mom anymore)

Luckily they were all three there. I am missing one of the kittens. I have not seen in weeks, so am assuming it got killed. That is heart breaking. The vet office was closed, yesterday, so I was not able to schedule an appointment today. So, next week I am going to really have to get these two.

Surprise baby kitty is alive!

I wish I took my camera over this morning. I have been getting up a little later to feed the kitties in the alley. More like 820. I have not seen any poopers in days, but this morning I was surprised to see the little black cat I neutered with his brother/sister. They heard me and came out running. That makes me happy. Now I can try to capture him/her.

I ran into the neighbor that is allowing me to put food and trap in his part of the alley at the grocery store on Monday. He said he has not seen any kitties in the morning either, but has heard more cat fights (mating season, I told him) It has been extremely warm here lately.

He also told me 3 neighbors complained about what I was doing. I of course got a tiny bit irritated(again) and said they were idiots...blah blah. He gets it, so hopefully he won't heed to their complaints and tell me to stop.

I know I cannot feed them at the same spot after I fix them, so I need ideas on how to lead them to where the food will be. The young ones are used to the food in their alley...and I will have to feed them one block away. Any ideas? The story Hansel and Gretel comes to mind. Will they venture down another alley or around the corner to look for food if they are hungry enough? What to do, what to do.
